A new glass roof option makes Renault's electric city car, the Twingo, an even brighter place to be. The oval-shaped panel is called Twingobay and was developed specifically for the most affordable electric model in the brand's lineup.
Egg-shaped, 0.7 square meters of light
The panoramic panel covers 0.7 square meters and lights up both the front and rear rows at once. Unlike the angular rectangular solutions common in the industry, a soft oval evoking an egg was chosen here. The graphics used on the interior side give the car a distinctive character. The opening fabric roof seen on previous Twingo generations is gone; a fixed glass panel takes its place.
Cool despite being sealed
There's no sunshade or blind in the cabin. The glass itself makes one unnecessary: the multi-layered, low-emissivity panel filters out 99.9% of UV rays and also blocks infrared radiation. The result is a cabin temperature that stays balanced in both summer and winter.
The sense of spaciousness doesn't come from the roof alone. The two rear seats slide independently of each other, and the cargo area expands to up to 360 liters. Despite its compact body, the Twingo EV thus dispels any impression of being cramped.
Orders after Paris
The Twingo with the oval roof will go on display at the Paris Motor Show on October 12. The ordering process across Europe will begin after the show. Twingobay pricing will vary by country and is reported to fall in the 550-600 euro range.
