Apple's Liquid Glass, introduced with iOS 26, brings a translucent, glass-like aesthetic to interfaces. WhatsApp has already applied the style to its message menu and chat bar, and is now updating the video player to match.
Translucent progress bar takes center stage
In the updated interface, the progress indicator at the top of the video has been rounded and given a semi-transparent look. The style blends with the background in both light and dark themes, and the control panel at the bottom of the screen has also been reshaped.
Not limited to iPhone
The redesign isn't phone-only; the player will be updated the same way on iPad and Mac, ensuring visual consistency across Apple devices.
The design is currently being tested with a limited number of beta users. No announcement has been made yet on when it will roll out more widely.
