The Ateş Serbest-2026 exercise at Polatlı, Turkey, put the power of swarm-logic munitions on full display. Baykar's SİVRİSİNEK smart munition was among the most talked-about systems shown there.

In the demonstration, 20 munitions took to the air and moved as a single swarm. Then 10 of them broke away from the swarm and destroyed their assigned targets with pinpoint accuracy.

A networked munition concept

Munitions have historically operated largely on their own. SİVRİSİNEK changes that picture: each unit in the swarm communicates with its neighbors and shares the target data it collects. Individual movements are thus executed as part of the swarm's common plan.

Artificial intelligence support, swarm coordination, and a range exceeding 1,000 kilometers stand out as the system's three defining capabilities.

It keeps working even in jammed environments

Satellite signals degraded by electronic warfare — or absent altogether — can cripple conventional positioning. SİVRİSİNEK counters this with an AI-backed visual positioning system, allowing it to carry out missions even where GNSS is unavailable or deliberately jammed.

Key technical details

The system is catapult-launched, so no runway is needed. It comes in two versions, UM and UMX, can carry a 20-kilogram warhead, and climbs to roughly 3,000 meters. Operators can make the device mission-ready within minutes with a single button press.
