Samsung's eighth-generation foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, made its debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London in July. We've now spent a full month using the phone in everyday life, and in this review we share the impressions we gathered along the way.

The Passport Type wave

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is one of the representatives of the new "Passport Type" foldable trend, alongside the Huawei Pura X and the Xiaomi 18 Fold. The narrow, tall closed form slips comfortably into a pocket. When the iPhone Duo was unveiled in September with the same design philosophy, it became clear just how widely this form factor has spread across the industry.

A thinner body, a tougher hinge

Samsung has made some notable engineering moves with this eighth generation. Hinge durability has been improved, while the Flex Titanium technology has enabled a slimmer chassis. The result is one of the thinnest foldable phones on the market. For the first time in the Galaxy Z Fold series, a silicon-carbon battery has also been chosen.

From the shop window to real life

One of the biggest problems with evaluating foldable phones is that devices are often showcased behind glass while real-world usage scenarios are skipped. We didn't take that route in this review: we used the phone every day for a month and report our field experience. You can find our detailed assessment in the video.
