Global demand for memory chips is rewriting the books at the South Korean tech giant. The company has released its financial guidance for the third quarter of 2026, covering July through September. These figures are preliminary; the final results, once announced, are expected to stay largely the same.

Accordingly, the company booked $145.33 billion in revenue for the quarter, alongside $80 billion in operating profit.

20% higher than Q2

In the second quarter of 2026, Samsung's balance sheet looked like this: $122.78 billion in revenue and $66.68 billion in operating profit. The new quarter topped both figures, with profit growing roughly 20% quarter-over-quarter.

A very different picture a year ago

The real breakthrough shows up in the year-over-year comparison. In the same period of 2025, Samsung reported just $64.13 billion in revenue and $9.06 billion in profit. Over one year, revenue climbed 145% and profit soared 783%.

The architect of this extraordinary profit surge is the rapid worldwide spread of AI. Growth in AI infrastructure has sent memory chip demand through the roof, and Samsung's bottom line has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of that wave.
